Harmony between AI and IoT

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) are the two popular buzzwords these days. They both are improving our lives. Uses of AI are various from recommending articles to peruse, items to buy, a virtual assistant for our help and so forth. Correspondingly, IoT is advancing by making everyday lives more quick witted and more intelligent. Since, these two fields seem, by all accounts, to be diverse fields, would they say they are contending with each other or is there a way they can help each other develop?

In this article, we will attempt to discover answers for these questions.

Let us start with understanding what is AI and how it functions?

Artificial Intelligence is a subfield of computer science which goes for making computer systems perform tasks that by and large require human insight. The human insight originates from a significant number of its natural qualities, for example, decision making, visual observation, understanding various dialects and speech recognition.

The field is further separated into many branches, for example, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Anomaly Detection, Robotics.

The basis of most of the AI algorithms can be understood in a simple way. They take a look at a few data and attempt to infer a meaning out of it. They remember this meaning with the way that it can change when more data comes. In this way, when the AI algorithms are nourished with an ever increasing number of data, they can give you more exact meaning from that data. They do it by the consistent procedure of learning from the data given to them. Henceforth, it is said that the AI algorithms are "Data Hungry".

Along these lines, the greatest factor in the accomplishment of AI algorithms is the accessibility of data.

Now, let us comprehend what is IoT?

Internet of Things (IoT) is nothing but a network of smart gadgets. By WikiPedia definition, these gadgets are installed with sensors, actuators and network connectivity. Since the gadgets are connected to network, they can gather and transmit data to a central system.

IoT gadgets sense change utilizing sensors and transmit that data to a central system. This happens constantly like a stream of data being exchanged. Now imagine how enormous this data would be. Be that as it may, just gathering and transmitting this data is sufficient? The answer is no!!! In light of the fact that the data gathered by sensors is raw data and it is tremendous in the size. In this way, the genuine advantage of gathering the data from IoT gadgets lies in drawing some significance out of this data and proposing reasonable action(s). This should be possible by breaking down and understanding the crude data.

Thus, IoT frameworks require something which can investigate the data and get an important conclusion from it and furthermore it will propose what move ought to be made on it.

It won't be theoretical to state that the success of any IoT framework relies on how significant conclusions are gotten from it.

The superhero who does this for IoT is none other than the Artificial Intelligence. As AI algorithms can dissect an enormous amount of data to discover significance from it, they are best suited to break down the data accumulated from IoT devices and infer an important conclusion out of it. Machine learning algorithms begin with the accessible data and begin investigating it. They attempt to discover patterns in the given data. These patterns are enhanced as an ever increasing number of data comes in. Once the pattern is recognized, the algorithms can be utilized for making predictions. And furthermore to recognize anomalies.

So also, IoT is helping AI by giving a gigantic amount of data from its sensors. This information is pivotal since it empowers machine learning algorithms to enhance their outcomes.

Along these lines, AI and IoT are the fields that are supplementing each other to develop, enhance and benefit the human beings. However, these two seem, by all accounts, to be distinctive areas/fields, they are associated with each other. Let us hope that the progressions in one field will help the other one to develop.

Why are Indian engineers so afraid of ‘artificial intelligence’?
why-are-indian-engineers-so-afraid-of-artificial-intelligence artificial intelligence_intelligent leafIndia has over 170 startups focused purely on AI, which have together raised over $36 million, but most aspiring engineers in India follow a pattern: finish school, go to IIT, do an MBA, and then take up a job. To work on AI, you need people who not only have a strong technology background, but also have analytical thinking, puzzle-solving skills, and they should not be scared of numbers.

Artificial intelligence will change America. Here’s how.
Artificial intelligence will change America_aimumbai_artificial intelligence_intelligent leafPart of the confusion about artificial intelligence is in the name itself. There is a tendency to think about AI as an endpoint — the creation of self-aware beings with consciousness that exist thanks to software. This somewhat disquieting concept weighs heavily; what makes us human when software can think, too? It also distracts us from the tremendous progress that has been made in developing software that ultimately drives AI: machine learning.

“But on the question of whether the robots will eventually take over, he {Rodney A. Brooks} says that this will probably not happen, for a variety of reasons. First, no one is going to accidentally build a robot that wants to rule the world. He says that creating a robot that can suddenly take over is like someone accidentally building a 747 jetliner. Plus, there will be plenty of time to stop this from happening. Before someone builds a "super-bad robot," someone has to build a "mildly bad robot," and before that a "not-so-bad robot.”
